Who would’ve thought that in a world where we can watch whatever we want almost whenever we want, consumers would be longing for the linear viewing format of the past?
Commonly known as FAST channels (free ad-supported streaming TV), providers like Pluto TV, Xumo, Tubi, Peacock are giving audiences a lean-back experience that serves their favorite content to them the way old-school TV channels once didandtakes away some of the fatigue of searching for something to watch.
In the U.S. there are currently 1,400+ FAST channels spread across 22 major providers. Older licensed tv shows and movies generally make up the majority of the content available to stream, although some providers like Roku and Freevee are starting to roll out original content.
With FAST channels on the rise and even more content to keep track of, consumers will be inundated with choices and decision fatigue. As though it weren’t already difficult enough for viewers to decide what to watch, providers are now making it even harder allowing viewers to mindlessly flip through the channels hoping to land on something interesting — again.
However, Reelgood has the solution – a FAST channel guide. Now, instead of becoming overwhelmed by choice or wasting time watching something satisfying, Reelgood uses viewer data to offer content they know they will enjoy based on their viewing preferences.
Reelgood is currently building out demos to showcase this new product atCES 2023in January. If you’re attending CES and you’re interested in scheduling a meeting or walkthrough, we’d love to chat. Please reach out tosales@reelgood.comto set up a time.
